Bar closed due to Force Majeure

Today the bar will remain closed.

Due to a free concert of a very popular singer, the police expects tens of thousands of people in and around the Santa Catalina Park.

No earlier then yesterday evening, Thursday 13th at 21:00h we received a letter from the Las Palmas city council that all terraces need to close as from Friday 14-3 12:00h midday until Saturday morning 15-3 10:00h.

Although it is permited to open, we can't see how to realize this. When we have to close the terrace and guard all the furniture inside, our small local is full. We can't receive people inside, nor prepare take aways.

Moreover with only 15 hours to prepare us, we did not find any creative solution to stay open anyway. There are posibilities, like guarding the terrace inside the toilets and use the local the serve take aways but in that case we need to offer a limited choice of drinks in plastic glases and tins.

But it would also mean ordering those which is imposible on such short notice in a city where many streets in our zone will be closed due to the same concert. Also it means changes in the logistic routes.

As we were given about 15 hours to prepare all this just before a very busy weekend we had to conclude that it is a so-called "mission impossible".

We are very disappointed and also angry that we, and all our neighbouring bars and restaurants, were not informed earlier about the measures taken by Las Palmas city council.

We think it is an utter disgrace to wait until the night before communicating those measure.

Although we completely understand the motive of safety for all we also think that all this is planning at it's worst.
